Jessica Lagunas is a Guatemalan artist based in New York. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Everhart Museum (PA), Art Museum of the Americas (Washington, DC), International Festival of Contemporary Art-Women's City (Slovenia), Jersey City Museum (NJ), Bronx Museum (NY), among others; and in biennials such as those of Pontevedra (Spain), El Museo del Barrio (NY), Tirana (Albania), Cuenca (Ecuador), Caribe (Dominican Republic) and Paiz (Guatemala). Lagunas is a grantee of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant (2014) and the Bronx Council on the Arts BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) Grantee (2016). She has received grants from the Urban Artist Initiative and the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, and has been awarded residencies in New York City from El Museo del Barrio, Wave Hill, the Center for Book Arts, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council on Governors Island, and the Bronx Museum's Artist in the Marketplace.
