About AnnieLaurie Erickson
AnnieLaurie Erickson is a visual artist and educator residing in New Orleans. She is Associate Professor and Director of Studio Art Graduate Studies at Tulane University and an artist collective member at Antenna. She was awarded an ATLAS grant in 2016 to develop her project Data Shadows and recently completed a residency at Yaddo. Erickson’s work has been exhibited widely in the US and abroad, including Higher Pictures, NYC; the Goethe-Institut, Washington, DC; Contemporary Art Center, New Orleans; Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans; Acadiana Center for the Arts, Lafayette, LA; Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, NYC; Governors Island Art Fair, NYC; Boston Center for the Arts; and CentrePasquArt, Bienne, Switzerland. Notable press includes The New Yorker, Huffington Post, Oxford American, Washington Post, Paper Magazine, Afterimage, and Foam Magazine. Erickson received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Through self-directed and collaborative endeavors in optics and material studies, I explore ways in which artistic creation can reveal things that often go unseen. Each of my projects maintains a specific research interest and visual outcome, but all of the work sets out to deconstruct complex systems in order to create objects that probe current social and environmental issues through the lens of perception.”
