Stephanie Pearl Travers is an organizer, writer, curator, and neuroqueer dreamer whose work centers community care. As the Artist-Centered Program Manager, she is responsible for the administration, assessment and refinement of the Joan Mitchell Center residency and public programming and acts as a primary contact and resource for artists.

Stephanie was the founding editor-in-chief of the New Orleans arts publication the Iron Lattice, as well as the instigator and creative director behind the community art project 912 Julia where she had the pleasure of collaborating with 100+ local and emerging artists and organizers over three years. She also started the initiative Free Mental Healthcare for New Orleans Artists in partnership with WeHelpNola, a program that provided free holistic mental health services for 50 artists for a year in the wake of the pandemic.

Stephanie attended the University of Washington and worked primarily in restaurant hospitality before finding her way to the visual arts. Originally from Central Florida, she has called New Orleans home for the past nine years and can’t imagine living anywhere else. Her personal creative practice includes narrative nonfiction, oil pastels, event production, and space activation.
