Twenty-one objects are arranged nestled into or on top of five silver, reflective levels of a red cantilevered toolbox. The box opens to create a chunky V, and objects include bottles and tubes, including an Oxi Clean pen, a brush, flossers, and a pair of metal clawed bird’s feet.

I Wake Up In The Morning and Piss Excellence

This beaded fire suit has a high collar, long sleeves and pants, all with fitted cuffs, and a pair of partially beaded gloves. The suit zips up the front and is laid flat with the arms folded over the torso. The shoulders and chest are horizontally striped and the pant legs vertically striped, all in shades of vivid red, yellow, green, light blue, and jewel-toned lapis blue.

About Sam Frésquez

Sam Frésquez (b. 1996, Mesa, AZ) is an interdisciplinary artist. Their work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), the Denver Art Museum, the Phoenix Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson, the Torrance Art Museum, and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Her upcoming exhibitions include Your Birth Is My Birth, in collaboration with Merryn Omotayo Alaka at Jane Lombard Gallery, and a three-person exhibition entitled Spatial Poems at MASS MoCA. Frésquez has participated in artist residencies at Xico Galería, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, New York Arts Practicum, Vermont Studio Center, MASS MoCA, and CALA Alliance. They recently received their MFA in Sculpture at Yale University, and currently live and work in Chicago.
