About Romi Ron Morrison

Romi Ron Morrison [Elegant Collisions] is an interdisciplinary designer, artist and researcher working in the fields of human geography, digital technology and urbanism. His practice works to investigate the generative ways in which the unassimilable refigures, complicates and dissolves our understanding of race + geographic space as fixed and knowable. From building open source platforms to end the continued practice of solitary confinement to creating community archives to combat gentrification, they investigate cartographies of slow violence, cybernetics, unassimilable data, and blackness.

They have collaborated with design teams that have carried out projects in New Orleans, Ghana, Colombia, Ethiopia, New York, and Venice, and their work has been featured at the AIA New York, the UN World Urban Forum, and the Tribeca Film Festival. They have taught at Parsons School of Design, and are currently Annenberg Ph.D. Fellows in the Arts + Media Practices Program at USC in Los Angeles. They were awarded a residency at the Joan Mitchell Center through a partnership with Antenna Gallery and Parsons School of Design.
