About Natalie McLaurin

Natalie McLaurin grew up in Knoxville, TN. Hired for a two-month stint as an art preparator for Prospect.1 in 2008, McLaurin fell victim to the charm of New Orleans. She moved permanently to the city in Fall 2009. McLaurin is an active artist and curator, and founding member of the former artist group T-lot. She has exhibited her work throughout New Orleans at Antenna Gallery, New Orleans Art Center, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, St. Claude UNO Gallery (solo exhibition), The Front, and other venues. She has also exhibited at Marcia Wood Gallery, Atlanta; Acadiana Center for the Arts, Lafayette LA; G Gallery, Houston; The Project Gallery, Asheville, NC; and Pochran Studios, Brooklyn. McLaurin is Gallery Director and an Artist Member at Antenna Gallery. She has a Bachelors in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and an MFA from University of New Orleans.

My work relates ideas of place and belonging, and often, hiding from or trying to confront the ideas and situations I wish I could avoid. Birds, the most commonly seen wild animals in the world, play a large role in my work.”
