About Miss Pussycat

© Alison Green

Miss Pussycat is a New Orleans based artist and puppeteer. She is best known as one half of the duo Quintron and Miss Pussycat, who travel all over the world performing live puppet shows and playing organ-driven party music in rock clubs and secret club houses. Puppet shows are often the genesis of other artwork, including ceramics, paintings, videos and photos. Miss Pussycat has had exhibits of her work at The New Orleans Museum of Art in (2010) and at the Center for Contemporary Art in New Orleans (2013). She has been a featured artist for the New Orleans art triennial Prospect twice: for Prospect 1.5 (2010) and Prospect 4 (2017), in which her show was at The Ogden Museum of Southern Art. The Puppet Worlds of Miss Pussycat opened at the Galveston Art Center in 2019.

I am a visual artist and puppeteer. Puppets are kinetic sculptures, and the puppet theater is also a sculpture—and a secret hideout. For my puppet shows, I am often inspired by the underground music scene that I am a part of, ancient history, my friends and neighborhood. My puppet shows become the genesis for other art projects, transforming the puppets, ideas, and stories into other mediums.”
