A composition of cut paper in shades of faded mint green, muted black, and tangerine orange are arranged against a white background in this framed work. The straight and stepped edges of the shapes recall floorplans, and a series of tab-like, half-moon cutouts are arranged in a grid of 33 columns in ten rows across the bottom.

A tongue-shaped slab of concrete hangs on a grass-green wall. The metal blade and shaft of a shovel with the wood handle broken off rests along the straight, top edge of the concrete so the handle hangs down. An orange work light hangs with the back shield facing out and the light glowing against the concrete, and the orange cord coils on the concrete floor.

A wood board and an orange camping tent are affixed with the wide bottom surfaces to a white gallery wall. To the left, a bungee or cord affixed to the wall to either side of the aqua-painted board holds a raw wood plank and two windows out at an angle. To the right, a sheet of concrete slides down and out from the partially open tent, which is lit inside.

Sheets of plywood, lilac-purple insulation, a pegboard, and an empty wood frame lean overlapping on a white gallery wall. A silvery gray tarp lined along the right edge with oversized, cobalt-blue scalloped trim hangs partially from a vertical wood beam, and pink tape is strung across the assemblage.

About Krista Clark

Krista Clark was born in Burlington, VT, and lives and works in Atlanta, GA. She holds an MFA from Georgia State University. Her work has been exhibited at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta; The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York; and the New Museum in New York. She was the recipient of the Artadia Award and the Working Artist Project Award with MOCA GA in 2018 and was a Hudgens Prize Finalist in 2024. Clark is an Assistant Professor at Emory University.
