Photos from An Evening For Educators at Cheim & Read

On June 24, a successful Evening For Educators was held at Cheim & Read Gallery in conjunction with the exhibition Joan Mitchell: Trees. Over thirty educators attended, and participated in small group discussions led by Joan Mitchell Foundation Artist-Teachers, and spent time with the paintings of Joan Mitchell. Participants were also invited to view the Marion Cajori film "Joan Mitchell: Portrait of an Abstract Painter" at the Foundation offices before visiting the gallery.

The Foundation supplied participants with two educational posters to facilitate lesson planning, available for download here. Additionally, participants were given a copy of the exhibition catalog, generously provided by Cheim and Read. Thank you to Cheim and Read for hosting the evening, and to all attending educators for their participation and enthusiasm for Joan Mitchell's work.

Joan Mitchell: Trees is open through August 29, 2014 at Cheim & Read, 547 West 25th Street, New York, NY.

Quotes from participants:

"Tuesday night was terrific! I learned so much about viewing art, and my relationship to it...really fascinating."

"Thank you again for hosting and having such a wonderful evening last week! I had a great time and was thrilled to be able to take a closer look at Joan's work and life with those that appreciate her. I also really loved meeting with and talking to your teaching artists."
