Ruth Leonela Buentello is an artist from San Antonio, TX, and a 2017 recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant. We sat down with her in April 2019, when she was an Artist-in-Residence at the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans, to learn about her work exploring her family, their relationship dynamics, and how gender and culture play a role in their lives.
