Meet The Curators
Join us on Wednesday, September 9 for Community Coffee to "Meet the Curators." Talk with local curators upcoming programming and independent projects, in addition to meeting fellow arts administrators, artists, and cultural practitioners.

Visual Mashup
Storytelling
Featuring artists: Shoshanna Weinberger, Cynthia Scott, Christopher Porche West, Robert Hodge, Rick Legendre, with music by DJ Rq Away. Join us for the return of our happy hour artist and community networking event series! Visual MashUp features local and national artists giving informal presentations on their work,this week centered around the theme of "Storytelling." When artists are "mashed up" with artists from other disciplines and places, unexpected connections are revealed.

JMC Artist Takeover- Unpacking Residencies
Featuring a discussion with Artists-in-Residence Cece Givens, Heather Hart and Philemona Williamson. Moderated by Mariana Sheppard, Interim Associate Director of Education and Public Programs (Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans). Learn more about the purpose and importance of residency programs and how they inform and assist visual artists' studio practices. Representatives from various local residency programs will be in attendance.

Town Hall
Art + Social Justice (with a focus on juvenile justice)
Join us for a Town Hall Call & Response Panel Discussion at the Joan Mitchell Center. Moderated by Gia M. Hamilton, the panelists include Ernest Johnson of Families and Friends of Louisiana’s Incarcerated Children, Chandra McCormick of L9 Center for the Arts, Cassandra Tran of VAYLA, and Kevin Griffin of 2 Cent Media. Joan Mitchell Center, Indigo Building, 2275 Bayou Road. Doors open at 12 PM, discussion ends at 2:30 PM.
