About E Marshall

E Marshall lives and works in New Orleans. E studied art at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design as an undergraduate and earned an MFA from the University of New Orleans in 2020. Their work is bold and colorful and incorporates many media including painting, drawing, and sewing. They are a member of The Front gallery, an art collective gallery on Saint Claude Avenue in New Orleans.

Symbolic color has become important in my work. I'm exploring the conversation between societal, personal, natural, and artistic uses of color. My compositions, both figurative and abstract, feature symmetrical shapes that create orbs, atmospheres, cells, galaxies, thought bubbles, tunnels, portals, and mind caverns. The space on the page or cloth feels simultaneously huge, human-sized, and microscopic.”
