Joan Mitchell Center Temporarily Closed for COVID-19 Prevention

As we all work to do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to close the residency program at the Joan Mitchell Center for the duration of the Spring residency season. This closure aligns with federal and local instructions for social distancing to protect the wellbeing of our Artists-in-Residence, staff, and local community.

Here's what you should know:

  • Public events scheduled between now and June have been cancelled. We will update you when we resume Community Coffee and Open Studios and look forward to welcoming you at the Center later in the year.
  • We will be working with the Spring Artists-in-Residence to reschedule their residencies in 2020 or 2021.
  • Our Open Call for 2021 Residency applications, which typically opens in April, will be delayed as we adjust our plans for 2021 to accommodate artists who are not able to complete their residencies in 2020.
  • Our staff is working remotely and will still be reachable by email.

We will continue to monitor the evolving situation and making decisions on the status of future programming as we know more. In the meantime, we wish our whole community well and welcome any questions that you might have.
