About Adriana Corral

Adriana Corral's practice is rigorously invested in research and collaboration. Through various projects, she connects and collaborates with community individuals, experts, and scholars ranging from families of victims of violence, artists, journalists, gender scholars, historians, and human rights attorneys. The information she gathers becomes the vital material that constructs her artistic practice. Corral creates sculptures, installations, and performances that address and respond to the endless violation of human rights and historical memory, which continue to be threatened, eroded, and erased over time. Corral received her Masters of Fine Arts from The University of Texas at Austin and completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Texas at El Paso. Corral was invited to attend the 106th session of the Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary disappearances at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland; awarded a Joan Mitchell Foundation Emerging Artist Grant (2015); included in “Artists to Watch: 18 Exceptional New Talents” by Modern Painters; and attended the International Artist-in-Residence at Artpace, Künstlerhaus Bethanien Residency in Berlin, Germany. She is currently a Black Cube Fellow.
