About Angela Tucker

Angela Tucker smiles warmly with arms folded in front of her. She is a Black woman with a medium skintone, long honey blond-brown braids, and wears round fuschia glasses and matching knit shirt.

Angela Lynn Tucker is an Emmy and Webby-winning filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist whose work confronts the trauma and beauty of living in a Black body in America, spanning genres from documentaries to holiday films starring Patti LaBelle.

Her films screened at Tribeca, BlackStar, and the New Orleans Film Festival, and aired on NBC and Netflix. Her first solo exhibition debuted at The Diboll Gallery. She’s exhibited at Vassar College, Lawrence Arts Center, and Brooklyn Historical Society, and had an installation at the True/False Film Festival with work featured in Cut Up Magazine. She is a member of the artist-run gallery, The Front.

Her latest documentary, THE INQUISITOR, will premiere at Tribeca Film Festival. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Angela holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MFA from Columbia University. She was raised in New York City and now lives in New Orleans.
