About Debra Baxter

Debra Baxter is a sculptor who harnesses the power of natural material through fabrication and disparate combinations. She received an MFA in sculpture from Bard College in 2008 and a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1996. She has received four 4Culture Grants and an Artist Trust Fellowship, and was an artist-in-residence at Bullseye Glass. Baxter's work is in public collections throughout the US, including the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Albuquerque Museum. Her work has been featured in Zoo Magazine (Germany), Edelweiss Magazine (Switzerland), Zink, Design Bureau, Sculpture magazine, and THE magazine by Southwest Contemporary. She has had solo shows at Form and Concept, Santa Fe, MN; Roq la Rue, Seattle, WA; Platform Gallery, Seattle; and Massimo Audiello, New York. Group exhibitions include Making Mends, Bellevue Art Museum, Bellevue, WA, and Death and Other Objects, Or Gallery, Vancouver, Canada.
